Students will be introduced to the world of structure determination by protein crystallization and protein crystallography. The training course will consist of lectures on theory as well as practical sessions. By the end, the students will be acquainted with the basics of X-ray structure determination and know how to evaluate data, with special attention on advantages and draw-backs of the method. Future outlooks include the use of molecular models for implementing drug design studies.

Students prerequisites

  • Basic notions of physics and mathematics
  • Agreement of the thesis director

At the end of the workshop, the students will be familiarised with regards to opportunities and draw-backs of protein crystallography, such that in their future research they will be able to correctly interpret structural data and use them for computer-assisted modelling or as a guide for further experiments.
