The Institute of ” Microbiology, Bioenergies and Biotechnologies ” IM2B is one of the European reference institutes in Microbiology. It covers an impressive range of expertise in the field of viruses, bacteria, archaea, fungi, protists and photosynthetic organisms. Its recognition in the field of molecular microbiology is the result of research that combines a large number of technical approaches with a voluntary approach of multidisciplinary collaborations between the laboratories of the institute.

The IM2B offers an exceptional environment for research thanks to its expertise in the so-called “classical” fields of microbiology – bioinformatics, computational analysis, structural and cellular biology, genomics, molecular genetics, automated microscopy, biophysics and biodiversity – associated with the particularly well-represented fields of life chemistry – physicochemistry, bioelectrochemistry, physical chemistry and biochemistry.

This association allows researchers to jointly develop a unique integrative and interdisciplinary biology approach that is able to model the functioning of living organisms spatially and temporally at all scales.
