The Metabolomics NMR Platform of the Institute of Molecular Sciences of Marseille (iSm2 UMR CNRS 7313) is located on the Étoile – Saint Jérôme site, Avenue Escadrille Normandie Niemen 13397 Marseille Cedex 20 and was created in order to respond to a growing demand from researchers wishing to decipher the metabolic processes involved in biological organisms of interest. The fields of application are very varied, ranging from biomedical to food processing, including toxicology, nutrition and microbiology.
Metabomic NMR offers a global method at high throughput allowing the identification of metabolic modulations resulting from pathological or environmental perturbations undergone by an organism. Our platform offers services in liquid NMR (liquid samples or extracts) or HRMAS NMR (gel-like samples or biological tissues) to obtain metabolic profiles of samples as well as services in multivariate statistical analysis necessary for the identification of relevant metabolites. Our NMR spectrometers allow the observation of different nuclei such as 1H, 13C or 31P and the acquisition of 1D and 2D homonuclear and heteronuclear spectra necessary for the characterization and quantification of the major metabolites. The platform also offers its scientific expertise in NMR methodology development.
Spectrometer BRUKER Avance III – 600MHz (14.1 teslas magnet) equipped with 5mm BBFO+ (X-ray core optimized double resonance probe) and TXI (1H optimized triple resonance probe) and Sample. Jet sample changer refrigerated at 6°C (capacity: 5 x 96 samples)
Spectrometer BRUKER Avance III – 400MHz (magnet of 9.4 teslas) equipped with a triple HRMAS probe 1H/13C/31P.
Our platform is open to academic laboratories in the region as well as to industrialists. Depending on the needs, we offer our expertise in the form of services, collaborations or training.
