This workshop aims to give students the theoretical bases for understanding and using a light microscope. We will see:
1- The basics of the wave theory of light
2- The principle of diffraction
3- The optical diagram of an optical microscope
4- The principle of Kohler lighting and fluorescence modality.
5- The Fourier plane
6- Application of the Fourier plane to SIM microscopy
7- Other optical super resolution methods
At the end of the workshop, the PhD student will know how an optical microscope work.
