My name is Julius Martinkus. I am originally from Lithuania and I performed my Bachelor and Master degrees in Molecular Biology. I first worked as a Master student in the laboratory of Edita Sužiedėlienė under the supervision of Julija Armalytė, where I worked on bacterial competition systems by CDI and Type VI secretion (T6SS) in Acinetobacter baumannii. I then pursued my formation by a 7-month training period in the laboratory of Eric Cascales under the supervision of Eric and Dukas Jurėnas (LISM, IMM, Marseille), and a 14-month training in the group of Saulius Sumanas (Department of Pathology and Cell Biology, University of South Florida, Tampa, USA). I started my thesis at the LISM in Marseille, where I am characterizing toxins delivered by the T6SS, under the supervision of Eric Cascales and Dukas Jurėnas (now at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium).
