Jean Caraës

"Je m'appelle Jean CARAES. Je viens de Rennes (Bretagne, France) où j'ai effectué une licence de Science de la Vie (Univ. Rennes 1) parcours biologie cellulaire, génétique, microbiologie, physiologie animale. Après un master Microbiologie Fondamentale et Appliquée (Univ. Rennes), j'ai commencé ma thèse à l'Institut Méditerranéen d'Océanologie (MIO), équipe Microbiologie Environnementale Bioprocédés (MEB), à Marseille. Je m’intéresse à la production de biohydrogène par bioélectrochimie (pile à électrolyse microbienne) en conditions polyextrêmophile, au travers d'enrichissements de sources hydrothermales profondes ou d'étude de souches types. Cette thèse est sous la direction de Pierre-Pol Liebgott et la co-direction de Fabrice Armougom.

My name is Jean CARAES. I come from Rennes (Brittany, France), where I completed a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (Univ. Rennes 1), specializing in cell biology, genetics, microbiology, and animal physiology. After a Master's in Fundamental and Applied Microbiology (Univ. Rennes), I started my Ph.D. at the Mediterranean Institute of Oceanography (MIO), within the Environmental Microbiology and Bioprocesses (MEB) team in Marseille. My research focuses on biohydrogen production through bioelectrochemistry (microbial electrolysis cell) under polyextremophilic conditions, using enrichments from deep-sea hydrothermal sources or studying model strains. This Ph.D. is supervised by Pierre-Pol Liebgott with co-supervision by Fabrice Armougom."
