Ilenia Serra

Ciao! My name is Ilenia Serra and I come from Italy. After a BSc in Biotechnology and a MSc in Industrial biotechnology, I completed a Joint PhD program between the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and the University of Zaragoza (Spain). During my PhD, I worked on chlorite dismutases and other heme-containing enzymes as promising biocatalysts for industrial applications. In November 2023, I joined the BIP07 team as a post-doc, with Dr. Bénédicte Burlat as my promoter. I am interested in exploring the structural and functional properties of Fe-S containing proteins from the Megamimivirinae family of Giant Viruses.
