Interdisciplinary program to train experts able to resolve the complex challenges of modern biological sciences.
The aim of the “Structural Biology, Genomics” Master’s degree is to offer biology students a training programme that will enable them to acquire the skills they need to work as scientists in one of these two fields, in both academia and industry.
The skills acquired by young graduates during this course will enable them to apply biochemical, structural biology or genomics approaches to solving complex molecular problems or devising innovative solutions to a range of problems in broad areas of biology, including microbiology, immunology, cell biology, neurobiology and plant biology.
The structural biology and genomics masters program trains students to become active and innovative scientists in either an academic or industrial context. Our graduates master biochemistry, structural biology, and genomics and can apply their knowledge to solve complex molecular problems or develop innovative solutions in many different biological contexts.

The Strenghs of the master.

Thanks to its national and international recognition and a network of collaborations built over more than 20 years, this Master’s program has unique strengths that offer real opportunities for training in the fields of Structural Biochemistry and Genomics.

COMPETENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

At the end of their training, future professionals will have acquired solid skills.

The program equips students with essential STEM skills for diverse biological fields. They learn problem-solving through experimental approaches using cutting-edge methods. The master’s offers two specializations: Structural Biochemistry and Genomics & Bioinformatics. Each track prepares scientific experts to meet industry and academic demands.

Structural Biochemistry

Students acquire theoretical and practical expertise in biochemistry, biophysics, and structural biology. They master techniques to determine and refine macromolecular structures, analyze their dynamics and functions, and apply these skills in biological or engineering contexts. This training emphasizes the role of molecular structures and mechanisms in Biology.

Genomics and Bioinformatic Data Analysis

Students train in modern methods for acquiring and analyzing large ‘omics datasets. They study genomic variations,
transcriptome analysis, phylogeny, and molecular evolution while gaining proficiency in high-throughput technologies used in industry and academia. They also develop expertise in bioinformatics-based data analysis using public databases and tools.

Master de Microbiologie

An obligatory 2 month placement at the end of the first year and a 6 to 9 month placement in the second year. These placements can be in public research laboratories or biotechnology companies. Thanks to the masters network you can easily do these placements in foreign laboratories.

Organization

The organization of the master is designed to allow you to achieve your professional goals.

  • Semester 1 – Learn the fundamentals of structural biology, genomics, statistics, bioinformatics and put them in practice through practical courses at the bench and on computers.
  • Semester 2 – Choose your orientation and deepen you knowledge before a laboratory placement.
  • Semester 3 – Continue your specialization following one of the two learning paths: Structural biochemistry or Genomics.
  • Semester 4 – Put your knowledge to work through a placement in either university research laboratory or a biotechnology company.
