David PIGNOL est directeur de l’Institut Biosciences et biotechnologies d’Aix-Marseille (BIAM), une Unité mixte de recherche spécialisée en biologie végétale et microbiologie environnementale et dépendant du CEA, du CNRS et d’AMU. Ses recherches ont porté tout au long de sa carrière sur le rôle des ions métalliques dans les processus d’adaptation des microorganismes à leur environnement. Ses recherches fondamentales ont conduit à une centaine de publications dont 4 articles dans la revue Science et 1 dans la revue Nature et ont également contribué au développement de pistes de recherche dans le domaine de la surveillance et de la remédiation de l’environnement.
